This page is for sisters who want to teach. If you are looking for a female teacher for yourself or your daughter, you want our guide to choosing one or the sisters currently teaching here instead.
Why are female Quran teachers so much in demand?
Because a large share of the families who contact us ask for one by name, and there are simply fewer qualified sisters teaching online than there are families requesting them. Three groups drive almost all of it.
Mothers learning at home. Often women who read as children, stopped, and want to come back to it in their thirties or forties without sitting in a class of strangers. They are frequently the most committed students on the platform, and most will only learn with a woman.
Parents of daughters. For many families a female teacher is not a preference but a condition, particularly once a girl is nine or ten. If no sister is available, those families do not pick a male teacher instead — they leave and try elsewhere.
Sisters who prefer a female voice. Adults who are perfectly willing to learn from anyone but recite more freely, and correct more readily, with another woman.
The practical result is that a qualified sister's profile fills faster than a comparable brother's. That is not encouragement, it is just what the demand looks like month after month.
What does it pay?
The same terms as every teacher here: you keep 50% of the fees of every student you teach, with no joining fee and nothing else deducted. A private 1-on-1 student pays $60 a month, so that student is worth $30 a month to you for about ten teaching hours. Ten private students is $300 a month.
A full group batch pays better per hour than private lessons, because ten students each paying $12 for the same ten hours of your time comes to $60. Our page on what online Quran teachers actually earn works all of that through honestly, including where the figure is and is not a living wage.
Payment is monthly, by bank transfer, UPI, Wise or another online method you prefer. Your first payment arrives about 30 days after you start teaching.
Do you need an ijazah to apply?
No. An ijazah is a strong credential and worth listing if you hold one — parents do notice it — but it is not a requirement, and most of our teachers do not have one. What we actually check is that your Tajweed is accurate, that you can hear and correct a student's mistakes kindly, and that the hours you say you are available are hours you can genuinely keep.
If you are working toward an ijazah, our explainer on what an ijazah is and how one is earned covers the path. We do not grant them ourselves.
Can you teach with privacy?
Yes, and this is worth being specific about rather than reassuring in general terms.
You teach from your own home, in your own space, at hours you choose. A profile photo is optional — the field can be left blank, and a great many sisters teaching here do exactly that; it is completely normal and nobody will ask you for one. Your public profile shows your name, country, languages, experience, specialties and bio, and nothing else.
Lessons run in the browser with a shared Quran page, so what a student sees is the text you are both reading. Camera arrangements are yours to set with the family. There is no separate private chat channel between you and a student, and parents are welcome in their child's lesson — a protection for you as much as for them.
Your contact details are never published. Students reach you through the platform.
Is there a WhatsApp group for female Quran teaching jobs?
Not one that we run — and this is worth saying plainly, because it is one of the most common things people search alongside these jobs.
We have no WhatsApp jobs group, no Telegram channel and no recruitment agent. If a group claims to offer Maktab Quran positions, it is not ours. The only way to teach here is to create a profile on this site.
More generally, be careful with those groups. Most repost the same handful of listings, many are months out of date, and a real one will never ask you for a registration fee, a deposit, a training payment or your bank password. A genuine teaching position costs you nothing to apply for. Ours costs nothing at any stage — there is no fee to join and nothing to buy, because the classroom runs in your browser.
What hours would you actually teach?
You set them, but it is fair to tell you where the students are. Most demand sits in the evenings and weekends of the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia. For a teacher in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt or East Africa, that lands conveniently in your own daytime and evening rather than the middle of the night.
Narrow, dependable hours are worth more than wide, aspirational ones. A sister who can reliably hold two hours every weekday evening will build a fuller roster than one who lists twelve hours and cancels. Part-time is entirely normal here; most of our teachers are studying, working, or at home with young children, and fit teaching around that.
How to apply
Create your teacher profile on the site: name, country, languages, years of experience, the specialties you teach — Noorani Qaida, Tajweed, Hifz, Quranic Arabic, children, or teaching sisters — your timezone and weekly availability, and a short bio. Write the bio in English if you can, even imperfect English, because families read it to decide.
Our team reviews it before it appears publicly, and we contact you on the WhatsApp number you give, so include the country code. Once approved you appear in the teachers directory, where families choose their own teacher, and we also match students to teachers whose specialties and hours fit.
