Yes. Use the Female filter at the top of the directory, or browse our female Quran teachers. Many students prefer a female teacher for themselves or their daughters, and every lesson is private and one-to-one. There is a male teachers page too if you would rather choose that way.

Yes. You tell us the teacher you would like, we confirm the match, and you stay with them — so your recitation and memorisation improve steadily with someone who knows exactly where you are in your journey.

Our teachers list their specialties and experience on their profiles — Tajweed, Hifz memorisation, Noorani Qaida, Tafsir and more — and you can filter for the one you want. Teachers who hold an ijazah in Quran recitation can have the certificate checked by our team, and those who pass carry an Ijazah certified badge on their card.

Each lesson is a live one-to-one video call with a synchronized Quran page. As your teacher recites and highlights each word, it appears on your screen in real time, so learning feels like sitting right beside them.

Teachers apply and build their own profile — country, languages, experience, specialties and hours — and our team reviews it for completeness and consistency before it appears in the directory. Teachers can also send us their identity and teaching documents, and a teacher who holds an ijazah can upload the certificate for our team to check. A badge appears only after we have opened the document, and no teacher can grant themselves one. The last check is your free trial lesson, and switching teacher afterwards costs nothing.

The teacher uploads their ijazah certificate to us and our team opens and checks the document itself. Only then does “Ijazah certified” appear under their name. The approval is written by us into a record teachers have no permission to edit, so a teacher can never award themselves the badge — and a teacher who has not been through that check simply has no badge, whatever their profile says. The certificate itself stays private.

It means the teacher has sent us their identity and teaching documents and our team has checked them. It is a separate badge from “Ijazah certified” because the two answer different questions: one is about who the teacher is, the other about a qualification in Quran recitation. Documents are stored privately and are never published — only the badge is public.

No, and it is not a condition of teaching here. Maktab Quran gives equal opportunity to ijazah-certified and non-ijazah teachers. An ijazah is a real qualification and we are glad to display a verified one, but it is not a condition of teaching here and never has been. Years of patient teaching with children and beginners count for just as much, and we would rather show you both facts than hide one. Teachers whose certificate we have checked are marked, so you can choose either way.

Yes. Use the male and female filters at the top of the directory, or browse our female teachers and our male teachers directly. Teachers state their own gender on their profile, so the filter is built from what each teacher told us rather than guessed from a name. Every lesson is private one-to-one, so a sister can be taught by a sister with nobody else in the room.

Yes. The country dropdown at the top of the directory lists every country our teachers teach from, and you can combine it with the male or female filter and with a specialty such as Tajweed or Hifz. You can also browse the whole roster grouped by country. In practice the country matters most for time zone and for the languages a teacher speaks, rather than for the recitation itself.

Each teacher lists their languages on their card. Between them our teachers cover English, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Bangla and others, so you can filter for a teacher who can explain in the language you or your child think in — which matters more for a beginner than it does later on.
