- Account information — your name, email address and role (student or teacher) when you register.
- Teacher profile information — for teachers, the country, languages, experience, specialties, bio and optional photo you choose to publish.
- Learning data — lesson activity such as the surahs and ayahs covered and progress, used to help you continue where you left off.
- Technical data — basic information your browser provides, such as device type, for security and to make the service work.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and deliver live lessons.
- To connect students with teachers and display public teacher profiles.
- To track and show your learning progress.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent misuse.
3. Service providers we use
We rely on trusted third-party services to operate Maktab Quran:
- Google Firebase — for secure login (authentication) and real-time lesson data. Your account credentials are managed by Firebase Authentication.
- Jitsi Meet — for the live video calls between teacher and student.
- Quran text providers — public Quran APIs supply the Arabic text, translations and recitation audio shown during lessons.
- Google Analytics 4 — for aggregated, anonymised website analytics that help us improve Maktab Quran. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use essential browser storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences (including your cookie choice). We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics cookies are disabled by default and are only enabled if you select "Accept" in our cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
5. Children's privacy
Maktab Quran offers classes for children. Accounts for children should be created and supervised by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for managing the child's use of the service.
6. Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Teachers can edit or remove their public profile at any time.
