Staying safe on Maktab Quran

Most of our members are families with children. These rules protect them — and every teacher too.

Our rules

  • Adults only. Accounts belong to adults: teachers, adult learners, and parents or guardians who manage learning for their children. Children do not have accounts.
  • Parents stay in the loop. Teachers arrange lessons for children with the parent, and a parent or guardian should be nearby during lessons with young children.
  • No contact details in profiles. Profiles may not include phone numbers, emails, links or social media handles. Your mobile is shown automatically with the last four digits hidden.
  • Respect. No harassment, abusive language, inappropriate content or pressure of any kind.
  • Honesty. Use your real name and real qualifications. Fake profiles and fake reviews are removed.

Tips for families

  • Talk on Maktab first. Read the profile and reviews, and look for the Verified badge.
  • Always start with a short trial lesson before paying for a course.
  • Never pay a large amount in advance, and never send money to someone who will not do a trial.
  • Keep young children’s lessons in a shared room at home.

Tips for teachers

  • Agree the fee, schedule and cancellation terms in writing in the chat before the first lesson.
  • Be cautious of anyone who asks you to pay them, sends unusual links, or offers to “overpay”.

Block and report

In any conversation, open the ⋮ menu to block someone (they can no longer message you) or report them. Every report is reviewed by our team, usually within a day. We suspend accounts that break these rules. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.
