Maktab QuranSurah Al-Bayyinah holds a singular honour: the Prophet ﷺ told Ubayy ibn Ka'b, 'Allah has commanded me to recite to you' this surah — and Ubayy, overwhelmed that his Lord had named him, wept (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). Its eight ayahs are unusually long and weighty: the clear evidence that came to the People of the Book, the simple religion they were commanded with — sincere worship, prayer, zakah — and the final sorting of humanity into the worst of creation and the best of creation, khayr al-bariyyah.
Surah Al-Bayyinah is the 98th chapter of the Qur'an, a Medinan surah of 8 verses. Its name means “The Clear Evidence”. It states that the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to part from disbelief until clear evidence came, defines what they were actually commanded, and contrasts the worst of creatures with the best.

Until the clear evidence came
The surah opens by saying that those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted from their position until clear evidence came to them — a Messenger from Allah reciting purified scriptures containing correct writings. It notes that those given the Scripture did not divide until after that evidence had reached them.
What they were commanded
It then states the command in one verse: to worship Allah sincerely, inclining to truth, to establish prayer and to give zakah — and calls that the correct religion.
The worst and the best of creatures
The surah closes with two contrasted groups: those who disbelieved, abiding in the fire of Hell, described as the worst of creatures; and those who believed and did righteous deeds, described as the best of creatures, with gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, Allah pleased with them and they with Him.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
Lam ya kunil lazeena kafaru min ahlil kitaabi wal mushri keena mun fak keena hattaa ta-tiya humul bayyinah
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -
رَسُولٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتْلُوا۟ صُحُفًۭا مُّطَهَّرَةًۭ
Rasoolum minal laahi yatlu suhufam mutahharah
A Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures
فِيهَا كُتُبٌۭ قَيِّمَةٌۭ
Feeha kutubun qaiyimah
Within which are correct writings.
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
Wa maa tafarraqal lazeena ootul kitaaba il-la mim b'adi ma jaa-at humul baiyyinah
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ
Wa maa umiroo il-la liy'abu dul laaha mukhliseena lahud-deena huna faa-a wa yuqeemus salaahta wa yu-tuz zakaata; wa zaalika deenul qaiyimah
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
Innal lazeena kafaru min ahlil kitaabi wal mushri keena fee nari jahan nama khaali deena feeha; ulaa-ika hum shar rul ba reeyah
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
Innal lazeena aamanu wa 'amilus saalihaati ula-ika hum khairul bareey yah
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ
Jazaa-uhum inda rabbihim jan naatu 'adnin tajree min tahtihal an haaru khalideena feeha abada; radiy-yallaahu 'anhum wa ra du 'an zaalika liman khashiya rabbah.
Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
Learning Surah Al-Bayyinah
Al-Bayyinah has only 8 verses but they are long for Juz 30, which surprises students used to the short surahs around it. Expect it to take longer than its verse count suggests.
Why memorize Surah Al-Bayyinah?
Because it teaches you a skill the short surahs never demand: memorizing long, flowing ayahs. Al-Bayyinah has only eight — but each is a full sentence-architecture of clauses. Master it and you have rehearsed, in miniature, exactly what surahs like Al-Baqarah require.
How long does Surah Al-Bayyinah take to memorize?
Honest answer: it depends on your daily portion and whether someone is correcting you. Surah Al-Bayyinah is about 28 lines of mushaf text. Here is what that means at three realistic paces — each assuming you also run the revision cycle (which is what makes it permanent):

The smart way to memorize Surah Al-Bayyinah
Change technique: here you chunk within ayahs instead of chaining between them. Break each long ayah at its natural clause joints, memorize the clauses as beads, then run the full ayah smoothly before moving on. The surah's logic is a courtroom sequence — the claim (they would not leave off until evidence came), the evidence (a Messenger reciting purified pages), the verdict on rejecters, the verdict on believers, and the reward with 'Allah is pleased with them and they with Him'. Recite it slowly; this surah rewards deliberate, meaning-forward recitation more than speed.
