Learning the Quran in Sangli
Sangli district's Muslim community — about 2.4 lakh people at the 2011 Census, one resident in twelve — has a long history here. Miraj, now part of the Sangli–Miraj–Kupwad city, was an important jagir of the Bijapur Sultanate, and it is known today for its hospitals and for the hand-made sitars and tanpuras of its instrument makers.
Beyond the city, the community lives in towns such as Islampur (Walwa taluka), Tasgaon, Jat, Vita (Khanapur taluka), Atpadi, Palus and Kavathemahankal. Jat, on the Karnataka border, is a large, drought-prone taluka with long distances between villages.
Online lessons remove those distances. A child in Jat or Atpadi gets the same teacher, the same course and the same five classes a week as a child in Miraj — and the family decides the time.
Which talukas of Sangli do you cover?
All of them. Lessons are online, so a family in any of Sangli district's 10 talukas — Miraj, Kavathemahankal, Tasgaon, Jat, Walwa, Shirala, Khanapur (Vita), Atpadi, Palus and Kadegaon — gets the same teachers, the same courses and the same class times, in town or village.
| Taluka | What to know |
|---|---|
| Miraj | Includes the Sangli–Miraj–Kupwad city. |
| Tasgaon | Central taluka. |
| Jat | Large, dry border taluka towards Karnataka. |
| Walwa | Taluka headquarters at Islampur. |
| Khanapur (Vita) | Taluka headquarters at Vita. |
| Atpadi | Eastern taluka. |
From first message to first lesson in Sangli
Starting takes three steps and usually a day or two. First, email us at info@maktab-quran.com or create a student account. Second, the student takes a free live trial lesson from home in Sangli. Third, our office confirms the teacher — matched to the student's level and any preference you give us — and agrees the daily time. There are no registration fees and nothing to install.
Urdu, Hindi or English — and what about Marathi?
Every teacher lists the languages they teach in, and for most families in Sangli Urdu or Hindi is the natural fit. English works well for children in English-medium schools. We have no Marathi-speaking teachers at present; a Marathi-medium child usually follows a Hindi-speaking teacher easily, and the teacher adapts their pace. Tell us the student's comfort language and our office matches the teacher to it.
Courses from first letters to Hifz
A child who has never read Arabic begins with the Noorani Qaida. A child who reads but makes mistakes moves into Tajweed classes. A child ready to memorise starts the Hifz course, with a new portion each day and regular revision. Adults in Sangli can take any of these, or Tafsir and Quranic Arabic. The teacher sets the level at the free trial.
Classes for mothers and sisters
Many of the adults who learn with us are women — mothers who want to correct their own recitation before teaching their children, and sisters who never had the chance to learn Tajweed properly. Female teachers are available for every course. For women in Sangli, a thirty-minute lesson at home fits around the day. See our female teachers.
Fees in rupees
The maktab circle costs ₹1,000 a month for five live classes a week in a group capped at ten, where every student recites and is corrected in every class. One-to-one costs ₹5,000 a month for the same five classes with a teacher of your own. Both include the parent dashboard. Fees are arranged month to month by email. See affordable Quran classes.
Why families choose online over travel
Travel is the reason most children stop going. A daily return trip across Sangli or in from Miraj adds up to hours a week, and it fails the day nobody is free to take them. An online lesson asks for thirty minutes at home and nothing else. Families who have a good local maktab often keep it for community and add online lessons for progress — see the online maktab.
